Brazilian Ambassador (Dean of GRULA) receives Cuban Ambassador

Islamabad, 16 February 2026.  On Monday, Cuban Ambassador Damián Cordero Torres had the honour of paying a courtesy visit to the Dean of the Latin American Group (GRULA) of accredited missions in this country, His Excellency Mr Olyntho Viera, Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil, who was accompanied by Mr Alexandre Barbedo, Minister Counsellor and Deputy Head of that Diplomatic Mission.

The meeting, which took place in the morning, was held in a cordial and fraternal atmosphere, reflecting the historical relations between Brazil and Cuba. During the friendly exchange, the international situation was briefly reviewed in light of recent events, including the latest measures taken by the US government against Cuba.

Ambassador Olyntho Viera, a diplomat with vast experience, wished the new Cuban Ambassador success in his newly begun diplomatic mission. For his part, the Cuban Ambassador expressed his gratitude for the welcome extended to him by both representatives of the friendly nation.
