Cuba reaffirms support for Grenadian teacher training despite the challenges of the blockade

At the headquarters of the Grenada government, the Cuban ambassador to that country, Yadirys Echenique Paz, and the consul, Ariel Pazos Ortiz, met with authorities from the Ministry of Education, headed by the Honourable Minister David Andrew.

During the exchange, Ambassador Echenique Paz reaffirmed Cuba's willingness to continue collaborating with the government of the Caribbean nation in the field of education, despite the material difficulties faced by the largest of the Antilles as a consequence of the US blockade. She also conveyed to Minister David Andrew and his team the warm greetings of the Cuban Minister of Education, Naima Trujillo Barreto, and the Minister of Higher Education, Walter Baluja García, who expressed their support for joint projects.

For his part, Minister David Andrew acknowledged Cuba's contributions to the teacher training of the Grenadian people, emphasizing that the cooperation has been essential for the development of the national education system. The member of parliament also emphasized that the experience and commitment of Cuban professionals have left a positive mark on the education of several generations of their fellow citizens.

The meeting took place on the eve of another anniversary of bilateral relations between Cuba and Grenada, to be celebrated on April 14. For decades, Cuba has contributed to the teacher training of thousands of people in Latin America and the Caribbean, including Grenada, demonstrating the enduring tradition of solidarity of the Cuban Revolution.
