Accra, 27 de March, 2026 -The Secretary General of the Socialist Movement of Ghana, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, delivered today, at the headquarters of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in this capital, the letter of solidarity issued by the platform and network of progressive organizations Pan Africanism Today, entitled “Solidarity with the Heroic People of Cuba.”
This letter, initially signed by 38 progressive African organizations, trade unions, and political parties, has—according to Kwesi—been joined since March 24, when it was signed, by a large number of African brothers and sisters in solidarity with Cuba, amid the aggressive escalation by the U.S. government that threatens to suffocate the Cuban people, adding to the already criminal and genocidal blockade imposed on the island more than 64 years ago a new Executive Order signed by President Donald Trump on January 29 that declares Cuba a threat to U.S. security and penalizes with sanctions and tariffs any country that sends oil to the island.
Cuban Ambassador Julio E. Pujol Torres expressed his gratitude on behalf of the people and government of Cuba for the constant and growing solidarity with our nation shown by Africans, and in particular by the Ghanaians, with whom we are united by more than 66 years of brotherhood and collaboration. The Cuban diplomat assured that he would forward the letter immediately to its recipients and reiterated that Cuba will remain steadfast, defending its sovereignty, independence, and self-determination until victory forever.
