Nairobi, October 6. Professor Paul Tiyambe Zeleza, Vice Chancellor of the United States International University-Africa (USIU), received the Cuban Ambassador to Kenya, Ernesto Gómez Díaz, who paid him a courtesy call this morning at the headquarters of this educational institution.
During the dialogue, Zeleza remembered with pleasure his connection with the University of Havana, where he made scientific research in the past, and expressed his desire to cooperate with Cuban higher education institutions in the areas of human resources training and academic exchanges, while being interested in the devastating effects of Hurricane Irma in Cuba.
For his part, the Cuban diplomat recalled the efforts that Cuba has made since 1959 in the area of education, thanks to the guidance and political will of the Commander in Chief of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz. At another point in the conversation, Gómez Díaz emphasized the international cooperation that Cuba has offered to African countries for decades and reiterated its government's willingness to continue along that path.
The USIU, which is located in Nairobi and forms professionals in various disciplines, including PhDs, has a current enrollment of more than 7,000 students from more than 50 countries.
