Paris, 21 February 2026. — Cuba’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, held a meeting on 20 February with members of the Cuban State Mission in France, as part of his working visit to the European country.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador Otto Vaillant Frías, from the Embassy of Cuba in France, and Ambassador María del Carmen Herrera Caseiro, Permanent Delegate of Cuba to UNESCO. During the exchange, participants addressed issues related to the international situation, marked by a complex and constantly evolving global context, as well as the current situation faced by Cuba in light of the intensification of the hostile policy of the United States government.
In particular, the impact of recent measures announced by Washington was analyzed, including the provision of 29 January threatening to impose punitive tariffs on countries exporting fuel to Cuba, which hinders the country’s access to essential energy resources. The unilateral and coercive nature of these actions was underscored, along with their negative effects on Cuba’s economic and social development and its energy security.
On the same day, the Minister also held a productive meeting with the Director-General of UNESCO, which served to reaffirm the strong ties of cooperation between Cuba and the Organization, as well as UNESCO’s support for the country in a particularly sensitive context marked by economic pressure, threats to its national security, and the energy blockade imposed by the United States government.
The meeting with the State Mission forms part of the official programme carried out by the Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs during his visit to France, aimed at strengthening diplomatic work and following up on the priorities of Cuba’s foreign policy in the current international context.
