Kingston, 14 April 2026. The Ambassador of Cuba to Jamaica, Tania López Larroque, held a meeting with Sandrea Maynard, Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Office of Global Affairs at the University of the West Indies (UWI).
During the meeting, Maynard provided detailed information on the Office’s work in promoting the UWI’s partnerships with higher education institutions in Latin America, the Caribbean and globally. She also highlighted the aim of providing more accessible opportunities for professional development for students across its five campuses.
For her part, the Cuban diplomat highlighted the cooperative ties connecting UWI with higher education institutions in Cuba, particularly the University of Havana and the University of Guantánamo; as well as the potential for diversifying collaborative projects and academic and student exchanges.
