New York, 22 April 2026 – Members of the Permanent Mission of Cuba to the United Nations today signed the initiative Mi firma por la Patria (“My signature for the homeland”) as part of the follow-up activities commemorating the 65th anniversary of the proclamation of the socialist character of the Cuban Revolution.
The signing of this document reaffirms the Cuban people’s commitment to defending the homeland, as well as its unweaving allegiance to peace, in line with the principles enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic.
The initiative, promoted following the call by President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, sparked the creation of a national and international movement that draws attention to Cuba’s truth and condemns the impact of the blockade and the multidimensional economic warfare waged by the United States government.
On this occasion, the signatories condemned the serious disruptions these policies cause in the people’s daily lives -aggravated by the energy siege- and reiterated the rejection of all practices that violate international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter.
Furthermore, the initiative was praised as an expression of unity and commitment to defending national sovereignty, as well as a means for joining the Cuban people in condemning policies that threaten their development and well-being.
Through Mi firma por la Patria the members of the Permanent Mission of Cuba to the United Nations join the Cuban the movement that is spreading nationwide, reaffirming that the defense of Cuba is not only a right, but also the highest honor and duty of every Cuban.
