Geneva, Switzerland, June 12, 2026. The Cuban Minister of Labor and Social Security, Jesús Otamendiz Campos, who is leading the Cuban delegation to the 114th International Labour Conference, held a meeting today with leaders of trade unions and workers' organizations from several countries across various continents, Cuban residents, and representatives of the solidarity movement with Cuba in Switzerland.
The event, held at the headquarters of the Permanent Mission of Cuba in Geneva, began with a moving tribute to Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro on the occasion of his centenary. A documentary about Fidel's presence at the May Day celebrations was screened.
In his exchange with the participants, the minister reported on the numerous measures adopted to protect the income and rights of Cuban workers in the face of the criminal and increasingly aggressive measures imposed by the United States government.
He referred to the brutal impact that the blockade, intensified to unprecedented levels, is having on all Cuban families, including the energy embargo imposed on our country for almost six months.
He emphasized that, despite the tremendous challenges, no Cuban will be left without support.
He reported on the broad and democratic consultation process carried out with the country's workers with a view to the approval of a new Labor Code, which will establish even more labor rights and guarantees and whose approval in the National Assembly is scheduled for next July.
Regarding the threat of military aggression by the United States, he affirmed that Cuba is a nation of peace and does not want conflict, but assured that if aggression occurs, the Cuban people will stand firm in the defense of their sovereignty and independence, to the very end.
He expressed his gratitude for the invaluable support shown to our country by the numerous organizations and individuals from Switzerland and around the world who stand with Cuba in its struggle. He asked for their continued support in disseminating the truth about our country to as many people as possible.
Several representatives from various organizations spoke, condemning the criminal and aggressive actions of the United States and expressing solidarity with Cuba.
