New York, June 10, 2026 – Cuba’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Daylenis Moreno Guerra, reaffirmed Cuba’s commitment to promoting dialogue, peace, mutual respect, and international cooperation during the commemorative event “Exploring New Pathways for Dialogue Among Civilizations and Jointly Writing New Chapters for Global Governance,” held at United Nations Headquarters.
The diplomat underscored the significance of the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations, an initiative promoted by the People’s Republic of China and supported by Cuba since its establishment. She also recognized the work of the United Nations High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations, Miguel Ángel Moratinos, in promoting understanding and cooperation among peoples.
In her remarks, Ambassador Moreno Guerra highlighted the complexity of the current international landscape, marked by conflicts, hegemonic practices, bigotry, and discrimination. She rejected attempts to impose force as a guiding principle of international relations and condemned narratives that stigmatize cultures, religions, or civilizations at the expense of diversity and mutual respect.
The Ambassador also condemned the imposition of unilateral coercive measures, stressing that they violate international law and undermine efforts to promote a genuine culture of peace. In this context, she denounced the continued impact on Cuba of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States, as well as the persistent rhetoric of threats and pressure directed against the country.
The Cuban representative reiterated Cuba’s support for building a community with a shared future for humanity and emphasized the need to strengthen collective efforts in the face of unilateralism, coercion, and war. She also advocated for a more democratic, representative, and inclusive system of global governance that responds to the needs and interests of all countries.
Finally, Ambassador Moreno Guerra reaffirmed that Cuba will continue to defend peace, justice, international cooperation, and respect for the Charter of the United Nations. She reiterated the unwavering determination of the Cuban people to preserve their sovereignty and independence and to contribute actively to dialogue among civilizations and the construction of a more just and equitable international order.
