Ghanaian "Cubanitos" will arrive in Cuba on the 50th anniversary of the fall of Che

The Ambassador of Cuba, Pedro Luis Despaigne González farewelleda delegation from the Association of Ghana Graduates in Cuba (ESBECAN) at the "Kotoka" International Airport in Accra to participate in the Island of Youth in the celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the "Internationalist Training Program", organized by the Cuban Institute of Friendship with Peoples (ICAP).

On the Island, ESBECAN members, led by their National President, Mr. Gregory Alvin Parbey, will share their experiences with delegates from other countries and pay tribute to Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, the main driver of that program and whom they consider as their second father.

The ESBECAN´s members in their interventions have reiterated their rejection of the blockade and the unilateral actions of the current US administration. ESBECAN sent a message of solidarity on the occasion of the affectations provoked in Cuba by Hurricane Irma.

The visit will coincide with the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the fall in combat of Che Guevara, and in the Isle of Youth - October 10 – they will share the 149th Anniversary of the "Uprising of the Demajagua" by the Father of the Fatherland , Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, date that marked the beginning of the wars of independence in Cuba.

The Ambassador reiterated the significance of the visit of the Ghanaian graduates, especially in times when Cuba needs the support of all its friends in its battle to lift the economic blockade and for the recovery of the territory illegally occupied by the Naval Base in Guantánamo.

The President of ESBECAN said on behalf of the delegation that for them returning to Cuba meant to return to their second homeland, where they would visit places where they shared with Cuban families and assimilated habits such as speaking Spanish, playing baseball, dancing "casino", and eating "peas stew" and "torticas”.

At the farewell of the delegation of ESBECAN was also present the First Secretary of the Embassy, ​​Julio César Sánchez Martínez.
