EXHIBITION OPENED IN ZATOUNA, ARCADIA REGION, COMMEMORATING THE CENTENARY OF COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF FIDEL CASTRO

As part of the 5th Mikis Theodorakis International Festival, held between June 19 and 21, a photographic exhibition was inaugurated in homage to Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, commemorating the centenary of his birth. The exhibition, which includes important aspects of the life and revolutionary work of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, was organized in collaboration with the Fidel Castro Ruz Center in Havana and with the support of Studio New Star Art Cinema.
The event took place on Sunday, June 21, with the participation of the Cuban Ambassador to Greece, Aramís Fuente Hernández, and was followed by a discussion on Cuba and Latin America and a musical program.
Several speakers highlighted the close friendship between Fidel Castro and Mikis Theodorakis, and the solidarity, admiration, and respect that Mikis Theodorakis always felt for the Cuban people and their Revolution. They also noted that 2026 marked the 45th anniversary of Mikis Theodorakis's historic concert, featuring Pablo Neruda's renowned work, Canto General, on July 29, 1981, in Havana's Cathedral Square, in the presence of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro.
The festival was organized by the Mikis Theodorakis Museum in Zatouna, in collaboration with the Gortynia City Council and the "Friends of Music" Association. It was sponsored by the Hellenic Parliament and broadcast live on the Museum's YouTube channel and by the Peloponnesian News Agency.
