Cuba and Egypt reaffirm their commitment to maintaining close cooperation in the multilateral sphere

Cairo, June 25, 2026. During a meeting held at the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs between Cuban Ambassador Alexander Pellicer Moraga and the Assistant Minister for Multilateral and Security Affairs, Ambassador Amr El Sherbiny, both nations reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close ties in the multilateral sphere.

During the meeting, they discussed issues of mutual interest in the multilateral sphere and highlighted the excellent cooperation between the two countries within the framework of various international organizations. They also emphasized their strong alignment on key issues on the international agenda, particularly regarding the Palestinian question.

The Cuban ambassador expressed gratitude for Egypt’s traditional support for the Cuban resolution against the blockade and briefed his counterpart on the difficult situation Cuba is facing due to the intensification of the blockade, particularly the restrictions on fuel imports, which have caused prolonged power outages that hinder the normal functioning of transportation, hospitals, universities, industries, and food production.

For his part, the Egyptian Deputy Foreign Minister thanked him for the update and reaffirmed his country’s position of support for Cuba in its struggle to lift the unjust blockade. (Embacuba Egipto)
