Islamabad, 6 July 2026. The Cuban Embassy in Pakistan, together with friends and supporters, has announced a programme of events to mark the centenary of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.
The activities, which will be hosted at the Embassy itself, will run from July through to August and will include a variety of events designed to recognise, promote and explore Fidel’s vision and his legacy in areas such as solidarity, culture and sport. A competition is already underway; there will also be a workshop led by Pakistani doctors on their experiences of studying in Cuba and the solidarity they received, the opening of a photographic exhibition by a photographer who is a friend of the Cuban Revolution, and a display of books portraying Fidel as a leader, humanist, advocate of solidarity and statesman – the Fidel who inspired the masses and who always regarded sport as a right of the people. The awards ceremony for the competition on ‘Fidel’s legacy to the younger generations’ will bring the programme to a close, alongside a cultural event recognising his contribution to the defence of Cuban culture and its importance as a bridge of brotherhood between peoples.
