NIGERIA, October 26, 2017. With the participation of the International Women's Association in Abuja and the presence of Cuban residents, the Cuban Embassy in Nigeria celebrated the International Day of Cuban Culture.
The event was led by Ambassador Carlos Trejo Sosa, who briefly recounted the historical events that occurred in October and of great importance to Cubans. Among them were the assassination of Commander Ernesto Guevara, the sabotage of the Barbados plane, the creation of the Bayamo Hymn by Perucho Figueredo, and the physical disappearance of Camilo Cienfuegos.
It was projected an audiovisual material with images of the different artistic manifestations of the culture, that showed in a few minutes the Cuban cultural heritage from the colonization until the period of the Revolution.
Those present thanked the meeting, as the information provided aroused the interest of all, mostly Americans resident in Nigeria for various reasons. In addition, the activity allowed the exchange of opinions and messages on the current Cuban reality in order to convey a positive image of Cuba.
