Governor General of Jamaica meets with Cuban Ambassador

KINGSTON, JAMAICA, October 31st, 2017.Governor General of Jamaica, H.E. The Most Honourable Sir. Patrick Allen, welcomed Inés Fors Fernández in solemn ceremony to deliver Letter of Credence accrediting her as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in this Caribbean nation.

During the meeting that lasted more than half an hour, the newly appointed Cuban Ambassador thanked for the warm welcoming offered by Jamaican authorities and expressed the compromise to continue strengthening the already excellent bilateral relations. The Ambassador also conveyed the appreciation of her people for the solidarity of the people and Government of Jamaica in the fight to end the blockade.

Likewise, Governor General praised the cooperation of Cuba with his homeland, in particular, in the areas of health and education. He showed interest on the process of recovery of Cuba following the devastating path of Hurricane Irma. In this particular, the Governor General highlighted the altruism of the Cuban people who, despite the serious affectations, has been able to help other Caribbean sister nations.

Before concluding the cordial exchange, Governor General of Jamaica extended a salutation to the President Raul Castro Ruz, and the Government and people of Cuba.
