Cuban Ambassador denounces the extraterritorial nature of the blockade imposed by the US to the island

NASSAU, November 14th, 2017. -The Cuban Ambassador to the Bahamas, Ismara Vargas Walter, participated as a special guest on the radio program "Connected", hosted by the Bahamian journalist Lester Cox, at 96.9 of the Guardian Radio.

During her speech to the audience, the Cuban diplomat thanked for the support of the Caribbean region and especially The Bahamas, in favor of the Cuban resolution against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States government against Cuba, within the framework of the 72nd session of the General Assembly of the United Nations.

Likewise, the Cuban official referred to the regress in the bilateral relations with the United States due to the dispositions and regulations issued by the Departments of State, Treasury and Commerce last November 8. This action constitutes another example that the blockade still in force and is being applied rigorously.

She also emphasized the extraterritorial nature of the blockade imposed against Cuba, and how it not only affects the people of Cuba, but also various foreign companies that have been fined with large sums of money just for having commercial relations with the Caribbean nation.

The Ambassador stressed that despite the limitations that Cuba currently presents as a result of the blockade, the Cuban government continues to offer its support to various countries of the world and works to expand and diversify its economy.
