NASSAU, November 27th, 2017. -The Embassy of Cuba in The Bahamas recently held a meeting with graduates in Cuba to pay tribute to Fidel on the first anniversary of his physical departure.
In the emotional meeting, Bahamian graduates, and graduates from different African nations who currently reside in The Bahamas, expressed their deep gratitude to the Commander, for the great opportunity that the Cuban Revolution gave them to complete their University studies in Cuba. They also expressed their grief at the absence of Fidel among us, and as a symbol of respect and admiration a beautiful bouquet of roses was given to honor him.
For her part, the Ambassador of Cuba to The Bahamas, Ismara Vargas Walter, referred to the confidence that Fidel deposited in the training of foreign students in Cuba. She also mentioned how this project remains today despite the blockade imposed by the US government against the island. Similarly, she referred to the close ties that have existed for years between graduates in Cuba and the Embassy. Also, she highlighted the solidarity and support that they have always provided.
Also present at the meeting, the former Ambassador of the Bahamas in Havana, Alma Adams; parents of Bahamian students who are currently studying in Cuba, friends of the solidarity group, as well as a representation of the Cuban community in the country and members of the Cuban mission.
