THE BAHAMAS, January 27, 2016. - Mr. Quintin LaRoda, Vice President of the Union of Teachers of Grand Bahama was received at the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba by the Ambassador of Cuba to The Bahamas, Ismara Vargas Walter.
During the meeting, Mr. LaRoda highlighted the work carried out by Cuban teachers on the island of Grand Bahama (Freeport) and the degree of acceptance by the Bahamian population.
The representatives of both countries agreed on the need to deepen the existing cooperation in this sector and reviewed the agreement signed between the two countries in education.
Currently 8 out of the 44 Cuban teachers from the Educational Brigade "Félix Varela" are working on this island, the second largest in the country, in different schools.
Also present at the meeting Rogelio Pérez Parrado, representative of the Ministry of Cuban Education in the Bahamas and Vanesa Ortega Guerrero, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Cuba in that country.
