The Bahamas Chamber of Commerce expressed interest in exploring business opportunities in Cuba.

THE BAHAMAS, January 15, 2016.- This afternoon the Ambassador of Cuba in The Bahamas, Ismara Walter M. Vargas held a meeting at the headquarters of the Cuban Embassy with Mr. Edison L. Sumner, Chief Executive Director of Chamber of Commerce and Employers' Confederation of the Association of The Commonwealth of the Bahamas.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed the existing cooperation agreement between the Chambers of Commerce of Cuba and The Bahamas signed on July 17, 2015, and pledged to deepen economic-commercial ties between the two nations.

Mr. Sumner explains the interest of his institution to explore new business opportunities in Cuba and expand relations with the private sector. He also spoke about the Chamber´s experience in the last International Fair of Havana and the positive scenario in our country to improve economic relations, particularly in the Caribbean.

The Cuban diplomat stressed the need to end the blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba in order to develop our country´s trade relations with the world.

Also present at the meeting Mrs. Viana Gardiner, Director of Trade and Ms. Vanesa Ortega Guerrero, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Cuba in The Bahamas.
