Nassau, February 19th, 2018.- The Ambassador of Cuba to The Bahamas, Ismara Vargas Walter, recently held an exchange with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of The Bahamas, Hon. Kevin Peter Turnquest, during the celebration of the Spring Festival organized by the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Caribbean country.
During the meeting, both parties reviewed issues of bilateral interest. They also discussed the setback in the bilateral relations between Cuba and the United States after the new announcements made by the president Donald Trump. Similarly, the Deputy Prime Minister was interested in the recovery of Cuba after the passing of hurricane Irma through the national territory in September.
For her part, the Cuban diplomat referred to the strengthening of the blockade imposed by the United States to the island and its extraterritoriality. The Ambassador reiterated the Cuban position to maintain civilized relations with the US, based on the mutual respect and the recognition of the sovereignty of Cuba.
