Cuba and The Bahamas explore modalities to increase the academic and student exchange

NASSAU, February 21, 2018.- This morning, the Ambassador of Cuba to The Bahamas, Ismara Vargas Walter, held an exchange with Dr. Pandora Johnson, Vice President of International Relations at the University of The Bahamas and Jacob Dyer Spiegel, Director of Global Programs and Internationalization at that institution.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2014 between the University of Havana and the then College of The Bahamas, currently University of The Bahamas. They agreed on the importance of promoting initiatives as part of the academic and student exchange between the two countries. Also, several modalities were identified in order to expand such exchanges.

Likewise, the attendees highlighted their interest in strengthening the ties between both Universities as well as with other Cuban Centers for Studies in Higher Education.

Every year, a growing number of Bahamian students and academics choose Cuba for their researches and projects. The Memorandum of Understanding between both Universities offers excellent opportunities to both countries.
