THE BAHAMAS, September 30, 2016.- Yesterday a meeting with members of the academic Bahamian institution Global Conversations took place at the Embassy of Cuba in The Bahamas.
During the exchange, the representative of the Ministry of Education of Cuba in The Bahamas, Mr. José Reinel García Sánchez, addressed the achievements of the Cuban Revolution in this sector and the excellent relations of collaboration between the two governments.
Besides, the Ambassador of Cuba to The Bahamas, Ismara Vargas Walter, conveyed to the audience elements on the Cuban reality and the impact of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on the island. Similarly, she referred to the persistence and strengthening of the blockade especially in the financial sector, despite reestablishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and the United States. The diplomat also referred to recent cases of extraterritorial application of the blockade.
Teachers and students posed several questions about the features of the Cuban education system and the quality of health care in our country, as well as the international support for the lifting of the blockade.
At present, a significant number of students and professors from The Bahamas visit Cuba every year as part of the existing academic exchange between the two countries.
