New York, April 16, 2018. The seventeenth session of the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues started today at the United Nations headquarters in New York, with the attendance of a significant number of representatives of indigenous communities of the world. At the opening session, the delegates had the privilege of listening to the statement by the President of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, Comrade Evo Morales Ayma, who stressed the importance of ensuring that the voices of indigenous peoples are heard in the United Nations.
After his statement, the Bolivian leader received the greetings of the Cuban representatives to the UN Anayansi Rodríguez and Ana Silvia Rodríguez, Permanent Representative and Deputy Permanent Representative, respectively. In the cordial dialogue held, President Morales sent warm greetings to the Cuban people and government and a special hug to President Raúl Castro Ruz.
