The various Barbadian organizations that make up the Movement of Solidarity with Cuba (MSC) called a solemn ceremony at the Embassy of Cuba to pay tribute to the victims of the plane crash and send in different ways the message of solidarity to family members and Cuban people; the mistress of ceremony, Margaret Harris, graduated from philological studies in Cuba, recited the allegorical poem "Death" by Nicolás Guillén and presented several personalities who came to express their condolences, including friendly activists Robert Clarke, David Comissiong, David Denny, Dr Tennyson Joseph, the Baptist Reverend Onkphra Wells and Akanni McDowall, president of the National Union of Public Workers, who spoke on behalf of the labor movement; all agreed on the importance of being in solidarity "with the world's vanguard people of human solidarity, in moments that need this accompaniment".
Alternated on the podium were several renowned artists of the island, among them the poet Winston Farrell and the singer-songwriters Richard Stoute and Anthony "Gabby" Carter, who interpreted pieces of their repertoire also allegorical to the tragic event, transmitting their feeling of friendship and support in name of the Barbadian people, "which has as a historical background to have shared the pain and solidarity in another similar air tragedy, that of the Cubana plane that crashed on the coasts off Barbados due to the 1976 terrorist attack".
There were also in attendance the Cuban cultural and sports mission that works in the country, as well as representatives of the "Mártires de Barbados" Association of Cuban Residents who also deposit flowers in a solemn site enabled to sign condolence cards that will be sent to Cuba.
Closing the journey, Cuban ambassador Francisco Fernández expressed his gratitude on behalf of the families of the victims and gave an overview of the mobilization of the Cuban people, its highest authorities and the technical teams who all work together in the investigation of the catastrophe as well as in the attempt to save the lives of the two survivors. Finally, he extended his thanks to the Right Honourable Freundel Stuart, prime minister of Barbados, who has just sent a written message of condolences to Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.
