Namibia, August 8th, 2018- Peter Denk, executive producer of the Namibian television network NBC, made a comprehensive interview to Giraldo Mazola, Ambassador of Cuba to Namibia, on the Constitutional Reform process taking place on the Island.
The Cuban diplomat answered several questions that will help the people of this brother country to better understand the constitutive process.
Ambassador Mazola explained how the process of preparation, discussion and approval of the new Constitution has been developed and how it will continue. In this regard, he explained that the project had been presented to Parliament by a commission chaired by Army General Raul Castro, organ that analysed it and proposed changes, thus conforming the Blueprint which discussion will involve all Cubans within and abroad the country. At the end of this stage, he continued, all the proposals will return to the National Assembly to be tabulated and to prepare the document that will be presented to the people for approval or not through Referendum.
In another moment of the interview, the Ambassador explained that the Draft Constitution includes all the socio-economic changes that have taken place in Cuba in recent years, as well as proposals for changes in the organization of the State and the Government, at the national, provincial and municipal levels. However, he emphasized that it maintains continuity in many aspects with its predecessor. Among them are the irrevocability of the socialist character of the Revolution, the intention to build a more just society, with everyone and for the good of all, and to continue guaranteeing the enjoyment of human rights in Cuba.
To conclude, the Cuban representative emphasized that all the changes that have taken place in Cuba and those that are proposed to institutionalize, do not represent a return to capitalism. On the contrary, they are the intention of the Cuban people to deepen their conquests, building a prosperous and sustainable socialism.
