Dublin, November 16, 2018. Silvio Platero, President of the Cuban Movement for Peace and Sovereignty of the Peoples, speaking at the inaugural session of the International Conference against the US and NATO military bases, informed that Guantanamo is preparing to host in May 2019, the VI International Seminar on Peace and the Abolition of Foreign Military Bases, which, as on previous occasions, will gather more than two hundred peace fighters from around the world who will once again unite their voices to demand the closure of that base, also became international center of torture and violation of human rights of detainees of Muslim origin, and the unconditional return to the Cuban people of the territory where it is located.
In these Seminars various global initiatives have been launched for the struggle of the peoples against the foreign military bases. The World Council for Peace approved to designate February 23 as the World Day Against Foreign Military Bases.
