The Ceylon Mercantile Worker’s Union commemorates the 60th Anniversary of the Cuban Revolution

SRI LANKA, January 14, 2019. - Organized by the Ceylon Mercantile Worker’s Union (CMU) and the Guitar Association of Sri Lanka, Ambassador of Cuba, Juana Elena Ramos Rodriguez, held a meeting executives and members of the CMU, on the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of the Cuban Revolution.

During the meeting there was an exchange on the historical bonds of friendship between Cuba and Sri Lanka, highlighting the participation of Sri Lankan friends in the international solidarity movement with Cuba. The CMU General Secretary, Mr. Sylvester Jayakody, presented the Ambassador of a group of historical documents including a message of support to the Cuban Revolution addressed to the Coordinating Committee of the Latin American Congress of Solidarity with Cuba and for self-determination of the peoples, held in Uruguay in 1965.

In addition, the Ambassador offered extensive information on the consequences for the Cuban people of the blockade imposed by the United States government against our country.

The documentary film “Anecdotes about Fidel” by the American filmmaker Estela Bravo was projected.
