Kingston, Jamaica, 18 February 2019. Dr. the Honourable Peter Phillips, Member of Parliament, President of the People's National Party (PNP) and Leader of the Opposition in Jamaica received the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, H. E. Mrs. Inés Fors Fernández, at the headquarters of that organization.
The political leader highlighted the intimate bonds of friendship between Cuba and Jamaica, emphasizing the cooperation that the largest of the Antilles provides to this sister Caribbean nation in sectors like health and education, and the deep recognition the Jamaican population gives to the more than 350 Cuban collaborators who currently provide their services in these sectors.
During the fraternal meeting, the Cuban diplomat and the leader of the Jamaican opposition exchanged on issues of regional and international interest and advocated respect for the principles of International Law, including independence, sovereignty and sovereign equality of States.
