The Executive of the Saint Lucian Guild of Graduates of Cuba held a work meeting yesterday, February 27th, in which they analyzed the main actions and activities which will be carried out during the present year. The members of the Organization, led by their President Jamal Francis, agreed to continue working to strengthen, broaden and expand their work. They hailed and welcomed the recent result of the National Referendum in Cuba, in which the new Constitution was approved and reaffirmed their solidarity with Cuba and their rejection to the United States Blockade and the plans to fortify it by means of the application of Title III of the Helms-Burton Law. Also invited to be in attendance at the meeting was the Cuban Ambassador, Alejandro Simancas, who emphasized that the Guild and its members are true representatives of the sincere friendship that unites the peoples of Saint Lucia and Cuba. He also reaffirmed Cuba’s willingness to strengthen bilateral ties and to continue contributing to the development of Saint Lucia. The Guild of Graduates represents close to 600 Saint Lucians who have studied and graduated in the largest country in the West Indies, mainly in Medicine.
