Director General of United States Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba meets with American religious representatives.

New York, 3 May 2019. Carlos Fernández de Cossío, Director General of United States Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, met today with a representation of religious leaders from the United States, at the headquarters of the Permanent Mission of Cuba to United Nations. The purpose of the meeting was to update them on the latest events on the island, as well as to explain the Cuban stance regarding the aggressive policy of the United States against Cuba and in particular the decision of the Administration of President Donald Trump to implement Title III of the Helms-Burton Act.

The meeting was attended on the foreign side by John McCullogh, President of the Church World Service, Charles "Chuck" Robertson, Canon of the bishop and primate Michael Curry of the Episcopal Church; Douglas Leonard, Director of the UN Office of the World Council of Churches; Ryan Smith, Director of the UN Office of the Presbyterian Church; and Donna Bollinger, member of the UN Office of the World Council of Churches.

Also present on the Cuban side were Ambassador Ana Silvia Rodriguez Abascal, Deputy Permanent Representative and Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of Cuba to the UN; and other officials of the Cuban Mission and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
