Cuban Ambassador to Jamaica visits the Gleaner’s headquarters.

Kingston, Jamaica, 10 May 2019. The Ambassador of Cuba to Jamaica, H.E. Mrs. Inés Fors Fernández, visited today the headquarters of The Gleaner, one of the most important newspapers of national circulation (both print and digital) in Jamaica.

In a friendly dialogue with journalists of the newspaper, the diplomat thanked their coverage to the situation that has emerged following the announcement by US authorities of the entry into force of Title III of the Helms Burton Act and other measures aimed to strengthen the economic, financial and commercial blockade against Cuba.

Mrs. Fors Fernandez explained the position of her country in the face of the US government’s growing hostility and answered questions about the impact on the Cuban economy of the measures announced on April 17th, among other topics of interest.

The Cuban Ambassador also exchanged about the cooperation that Cuba provides to Jamaica in the health and education sectors, as well as the opportunities existing in both countries for the development of bilateral trade.
