Ankara, May 29, 2019. The Vice Minister of Health of Turkey, Prof. Dr. Emine Alp Mese, received today at the headquarters of her ministry the Vice President of the Business Group BioCubaFarma, Dr. Mayda Mauri Pérez, who is visiting work in the Eurasian country to follow up and strengthen business in the biopharmaceutical sector between both countries. She was accompanied by Cuban ambassador Luis Amorós Núñez.
In the meeting, both parties exchanged about their interests and cooperation potential. They agreed to work with priority for production in Turkey and joint development of preventive vaccines and directed to the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer. For this purpose, they agreed to create a bilateral working group with a view to implementing an action plan in this regard.
These conversations are part of the agreements adopted by the ministers of health of Cuba and Turkey, doctors José Ángel Portal Miranda and Fahrettin Koca, during their meeting on May 20, at the 72nd World Health Assembly, which recently met in Geneva, Switzerland.
During her stay, the BioCubaFarma executive has held a large group of meetings with leading public and private companies in the biopharmaceutical sector in Turkey. In these talks, the Turkish counterparts have expressed their interest in carrying out joint development projects for innovative medicines and their production in Turkish territory.
Dr. Mauri has also held meetings with leaders of the Ministry of Commerce of Turkey and before departure she plans to hold meetings with other important biopharmaceutical conglomerates in the country.
