Kingston, Jamaica, 17 October, 2019. The Cuban Ambassador to Jamaica, H.E Mrs. Inés Fors Fernández, today received a group of national leaders from Young Jamaica, the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP)’s youth organization, at the Embassy’s headquarters.
Young Jamaica's delegation was made up of Howard Chamberlain (President), Ricardo Foster (Vice President), Rohan Walsh (Secretary General), Rajive Hayden (Under- Secretary General) and Kaydian West (a member of the Board of Directors, responsible for gender issues.)
In this cordial meeting, the youths got acquainted with the most recent political and social events in Cuba, the measures taken by the current US government to tighten the economic siege against the island and the current situation and perspective of bilateral cooperation relations between Cuba and Jamaica. In turn, they expressed their opposition to the economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba and were interested in knowing more about the Cuban reality and the possibilities of pursuing higher education studies there.
The Ambassador took the opportunity to thank this representation of the Jamaican youths for their country’s historic solidarity towards Cuba.
