Athens, November 19th. Several members and supporters of the José Martí Cultural Association of Solidarity with Cuba, the group Todos Somos Venezuela, PAKS (Panhellenic Coordination of the Anti-War Movement) and the publisher House Diethnes Vima marched with a banner calling "the end of the U.S. blockade against Cuba," on November 17, as part of a tide of more than 20,000 participants in a mass act and a march from the Athens Polytechnic to the US Embassy, which recalled the 46th anniversary of the so-called events of Polytechnic. As the march went, many people applauded or raised their clenched fists in a supportive way, seeing the Cuban flag with a banner condemning america's unfair economic, trade and financial blockade against Cuba. Diethnes Vima (International Forum), set up a table with its books on Cuba and hundreds of pamphlets on the subject of the blockade were delivered. What has been called "the revolt of the Polytechnic University of Athens in 1973" was a massive demonstration of popular opposition to the dictatorial regime of the so-called Board of Coronels (Junta de los Coroneles). The revolt that began on November 14, 1973, became an anti-board revolution, ending with the massacre on the morning of November 17, following a series of events that began with the entry of tanks into the Polytechnic. There is also the door that was crushed by a tank then and to which citizens carry flowers in tribute to the victims. Embacuba Greece with information from Jose Martí Cultural Association.
