The grateful people accompany Fidel on an evening event in New York

New York, 25 November 2019. On the occasion of the third anniversary of our Fidel's departure, let us celebrate the work of his life, his absolute dedication to the revolution that he envisaged, created and developed. Today, Fidel occupies a unique place in the history of Latin America and the Caribbean and of the world; he was a fighter of ideas and at the same time showed with his actions that a better world is possible despite the adversities. His example and legacy remain with us and are essential to wage the necessary battles in defense of humanity. It is now up to us and to all the revolutionaries of the world not to let them die, stated today Ana Silvia Rodriguez Abascal, Deputy Permanent Representative and Chargé d'affaires a.i. of Cuba to the United Nations, in the solemn evening event to commemorate the third anniversary of the physical disappearance of the Historical Leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz.

The event was attended by representatives of the Cuban solidarity movement in the cities of New York and New Jersey -Pastors for Peace, Cuba Si Coalition;  Latin American School of Medicine graduates and Cubans professionals working at the United Nations; who also attended to pay tribute to the Commander in Chief.

Young people and children from the Permanent Mission of Cuba to the United Nations read poems dedicated to Fidel  –El Gigante by Humberto Arenal, Ronda de la Fortuna by Nancy Morejón- and remembered the words that Eusebio Leal dedicated to him. But above all, they showed how Fidel has been  a guide for the younger generations of Cuban revolutionaries.

Ambassador Rodriguez Abascal recognized as Fidel's great legacies, internationalism and cooperation in solidarity with the countries of the South.  In this context, she ratified Cuba's commitment to continue giving its modest cooperation to the peoples of the world, despite the campaign carried out by the Government of the United States, supported by the Latin American extreme right to discredit and sabotage with blatant lies the international cooperation provided by Cuba in the field of health in dozens of countries and for the benefit of millions of people.

Humanism, solidarity and unselfishness are the basic principles of the internationalism of the Cuban Revolution, which we will not renounce, in spite of the pressures, the hard sanctions and the dirty campaigns," she said.
