Cuban Ambassador to the Bahamas makes courtesy visit to the Leader of the Opposition, Philip B. Davis

Nassau, November 29th, 2019. In the morning of today, the Cuban ambassador, Alejandro García del Toro, paid a courtesy visit to the Leader of the Opposition of The Bahamas, Honorable Philip B. Davis of the Progressive Liberal Party. The Cuban diplomat and the Bahamian political leader exchanged views on the realities of both countries.

Alejandro García stressed that tomorrow, November 30th, forty-five years of the establishment of diplomatic relations will be celebrated, a period in which links have been consolidated in several areas, which could be diversified in the future. He mentioned that Cuba maintains interest in cooperating with the Bahamas in education, health and disaster management, among other sectors.

For his part, Philip B. Davis was interested in knowing the current state of educational and health cooperation between the two governments and highlighted the high value that Cuban collaboration has had in the medical field for many years, making particular mention of the Operation Miracle He wished the ambassador successes in his mission and offered his collaboration to strengthen the links between the two countries.

Senator Frederick Mitchell, president of the Progressive Liberal Party attended to the meeting. Yusimí Pompa, First Secretary of the Embassy of Cuba accompanied the Cuban Ambassador.
