On November 30th, the diplomatic relations between Cuba and the Commonwealth of The Bahamas arrived to the 45th anniversary. In all these years, both nations have built a positive relationship and lasting ties. We have promoted exchanges in different areas such as health, education, agriculture and migration. In the field of health alone, dozens of Bahamian students have graduated from medicine and other fields in Cuba
The current challenges of our nations can be faced by working on new sectors for cooperation. The protection of the environment, disaster preparedness and the sustainable tourism are imperative areas in which efforts can be joined. Both countries share natural spaces that suffer threats related to the climate change.
In the diplomatic field, The Bahamas supports Cuba in our ongoing effort to eliminate the blockade imposed by the United States of America almost 60 years ago. The Cuban government and people appreciate that position. In the years to come, the diplomatic relations between The Bahamas and Cuba will endure with new and greater benefits for both nations.
