Cuba in Jamaica: Loyal to Maceo's teachings 123 years after his physical departure

The staff of the Embassy of Cuba in Jamaica and representatives of the Education and Health Missions in the Caribbean nation paid tribute today to Major General Antonio Maceo Grajales, Cuban independence leader, in the 123 anniversary of his death in combat.

Kingston, Jamaica, 7 December 2019. The staff of the Embassy of Cuba in Jamaica and representatives of the Education and Health Missions in the Caribbean nation paid tribute today to Major General Antonio Maceo Grajales, Cuban independence leader, in the 123 anniversary of his death in combat.

The Cuban ambassador in Jamaica, Inés Fors Fernández, and the rest of the the attendants recalled the life, military trajectory and political thinking of the renowned patriot. About him National hero José Martí said: "Your ideology is firm and harmonious, like the lines of your skull", highlighting the ethics and integrity he showed until the end.

In the final moments of the activity, those present laid a floral offering before the monument erected to the Bronze Titan in the National Heroes Park of Kingston.
