Kuala Lumpur, February 14 - The Cuban mission in Malaysia offered a cocktail on the night of February 13 to celebrate the 61st anniversary of the Cuban Revolution and the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and Malaysia.
In the speech delivered by Ambassador Ibete Fernández, she referred to the challenges imposed on Cuba in 2019 by the resurgence of the blockade and the aggressiveness of the measures taken by the US administration to cause a change of government in the country. He asserted that the country did not stop and went ahead thanks to the unity and creativity of the people who are the main protagonists of the Revolution.
The diplomat also highlighted Cuba's commitment to the principles of respect for the sovereignty and independence of the peoples and the solidarity it has offered and offers, above all differences.
On the 45th anniversary I reiterate the will of Cuba to work to strengthen the relationship and invited the Malaysian government not to lose what was achieved during these years thanks to the wisdom and foresight of the link makers, the Commander in Chief and the current Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Tun.
The Malaysian government was represented by the Deputy Minister of Land, Water and Natural Resources, Tengku Zulpuri Shah bin Raja Puji, and was also attended by Malaysian Attorney General Tan Sri Tommy Thomas, Deputy Minister of Rural Development, Sivarasa Rasiah, the president of the parliamentarian group of friendship with Cuba, Wong Chen, the honorary president of the Malaysian-Cuba friendship association, Tan Sri Khalid and its president, Fahmy Kai, the Americas director of the Foreign Ministry and former Deputy Foreign Minister, Dato Kohilan, as well as members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the business sector, graduates in Cuba and resident Cubans.
