The Ambassador of Cuba in Egypt, Tania Aguiar Fernández, participated in a videoconference, organized among the Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), the Central Unit for Medical Cooperation (UCCM) and the United Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees in the East Próximo (UNRWA), with the aim of exchanging experiences acquired in the fight against COVID-19.
On the Cuban side, health professionals from the “Pedro Kourí” Institute of Tropical Medicine, the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, the UCCM and the Immunassay Center participated.
The exchange was held with Dr. Akihiro Sita, UNRWA Director of Health, with Dr. Abdul Hakim Chanaa, head of the health service and with Ms. Sahar Al-Jabouri, director of the UNRWA Office in Egypt .
The central topics of the videoconference were the follow-up of patients, the management of isolation centers, the medicaments used in Cuba and the preliminary results of the clinical trials to achieve the Cuban vaccine.
In this way, UNRWA enriches its experience in the battle against the pandemic and the presence of Cuba also highlights the unwavering support for the Palestinian people and their historic cause.
