Kuala Lumpur, December 8- Coordinated by the group of solidarity with Cuba in the Philippines, PHILCUBA today took place the videoconference entitled "The Sovereign vaccine and sovereignty of Cuba."
The videoconference aimed to highlight how despite the blockade, Cuba has been able to develop its own vaccines against Covid 19 and renew the call for solidarity with Cuba in the face of the aggressiveness of the Trump administration in the context of the pandemic.
During the videoconference, fragments of the interviews with doctors Eduardo Martínez and Vicente Verez about the Cuban vaccine candidates were screen and the Cuban ambassador in Malaysia concurrent in the Philippines, Ibete Fernández explained about the effects on the health sector in the last year as well as the campaign of discredit against Cuban collaboration. Regarding the sovereignty of Cuba, the diplomat clarified the recent provocations and attempts to create an outward vision of destabilization on the island.
On the Philippine side, Dr. Nina Gloriani, an expert on the vaccines panel of the Health and Development Council of the Ministry of Science and Technology, spoke to explain what her country has done to evaluate and purchase vaccines from abroad. On this matter, she expressed that her panel would be in a position to work with Cuba.
There were in attendance 61 participants and the event was covered by channel 7 for its program 24-hours and by The Inquirer newspaper.
