Kingston, Jamaica, 6 January 2021. In interviewing Cuban Ambassador to Jamaica, Inés Fors Fernández, the Jamaican radio publicized the important work carried out by Cuban health professionals and the international recognition of the dignity, professionalism and altruism of the more than 400 thousand Cuban health workers who, in 57 years, have completed missions in 164 nations.

The renowned Jamaican scholar Louis Moyston and the prestigious journalist Richard Burgess, from the radio station "The Edge", talked to the Cuban diplomat about the work carried out by the International Brigade of Doctors Specialized in Disasters and Serious Epidemics "Henry Reeve" to fight COVID-19. So far, the Brigade has assisted in 46 nations and five non-self-governing territories in Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, Asia and Oceania, and Europe.

The prestige of the Cuban pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries was also commended, this time, for the progress that Cuba has made in the development of various vaccine candidates to combat COVID 19. In August 2020, the Greatest Island in the Antilles became the first country in Latin America and the Caribbean to provide a vaccine candidate against COVID-19, “Soberana 1”.
