Kingston, Jamaica, 12 January 2021. This year, the José Martí School Past Students’ Association was responsible for organizing the ceremony for a new anniversary of this school located in Spanish Town, close to the Jamaican capital.
On this occasion, in compliance with the protocols derived from the complex international epidemiological situation, the ceremony was attended by a small group of the school´s professors, students, and graduates.
The Cuban ambassador to Jamaica, Inés Fors Fernández, attended the event as a guest. In her remarks, the Cuban diplomat acknowledged the work carried out by the school's teaching staff throughout these 44 years, in training thousands of Jamaican students, while paying a well-deserved tribute to the Apostle of the Independence of Cuba on the 168th anniversary of his birth.
Founded on 10 January 1977, the José Martí Technical School, was a present the government and the people of Cuba gave to Jamaica, as a token of the brotherhood between the two peoples.
