Gambia, 6th March 2017.- The Honorable Mrs. Saffie Lowe, new Minister of health, received the ambassador of Cuba, Lazaro Herrera Martínez during his visit to the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare in the capital, Banjul.
The Minister was accompanied by other officials from her office. During the conversation, the ambassador stressed the disposition of the Cuban side not only to maintain the presence of health collaborators in this country, but to expand the cooperation to such areas as primary health care, professional training, prevention of diseases and the anti-vector fight, among others, in which Cuba has accumulated experience and also successes.
Both the minister and the officials accompanying her expressed the eternal gratitude for the important support provided by the Caribbean island in order to ensure medical attention to the Gambian population, as well as its contribution to the health professional formation in that country. They also underlined the interest to continue to strengthen those links, based on the friendship existing between both peoples and governments.
