Athens, 3/24/21 At the headquarters of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece, a meeting took place between the Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), Dimitris Koutsoumbas, with the ambassador of Cuba in Athens, Zelmys María Domínguez Cortina.
The meeting was attended by José Oriol Marero Martínez, Consul of the Cuban Embassy, Giorgos Marinos, member of the BP of the CC and Aris Evangelidis, member of the International Relations Section of the CC of the KKE.
During the meeting, a friendly creative discussion took place and views were exchanged on international events, the situation in Greece and Cuba. The Cuban ambassador informed the KKE delegation about the Cuban people's struggle in the context of the growing US blockade of Cuba, the country's achievements in the field of health and the effective plan to face the pandemic, the progress of vaccines. and medications.
Dimitris Koutsoumbas informed the Cuban delegation about the intensification of imperialist rivalries in the region, the capitalist economic crisis and the serious consequences for the workers, the KKE's fight in the conditions of the pandemic, for the protection of health and life. of the people against the policy of commercialization of the health system that has led to the collapse of public hospitals.
The SG of the CC of the KKE greeted the VIII Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba to be held in April and referred to the multifaceted internationalist action of the KKE on the side of the Cuban people, to put an end to the prolonged criminal blockade of the United States and to initiatives of the Party the next period.
