Why don't we need more than one Party?

Why don't we need more than one Party?

Our Party knows that it cannot make mistakes that weaken it ideologically. (…) There will be nothing to weaken the Party's authority! Without the Party there is no possible revolution, without the Party there is no possible construction of socialism!

There is a very essential idea, and it is never to forget where we are located, which is not in the Black Sea, but in the Caribbean Sea, not 90 miles from Odessa, but 90 miles from Miami, bordering on our own land, in an occupied part of our territory, with imperialism. Our people are responsible for our country; and our Party is responsible for its policy, its line, its defense.
Our Party knows that it cannot make mistakes that weaken it ideologically. (…) There will be nothing to weaken the Party's authority! Without the Party there is no possible revolution, without the Party there is no possible construction of socialism!
And we must say here, once and for all, that we do not need more than one party, in the same way that Martí did not need more than one party to fight for the independence of Cuba, in the same way that Lenin did not need more than a party to make the October Revolution. I say this so that those who believe that here we are going to start allowing pocket parties to get rid of their illusions, to organize who, the counterrevolutionaries, the pro-Yanks, the bourgeoisie? No! There is only one party here, which is the party of our proletarians, our peasants, our students, our workers, our people, solidly and indestructibly united. (…)
We do not need capitalist political formulas, that is complete garbage, they are useless, with their essence of incessant politicking. Here he spoke of how they demanded the votes to give medical attention; none of those phenomena exist here. We have created our appropriate political form for the country, we do not copy, they are our own forms of organization of People's Power. (…)
We do not have to rectify absolutely anything in that, we have a very democratic system, much more democratic than all the bourgeois systems, of millionaires, of the plutocracy that is, really, the one that governs, in general, in capitalist countries.
We have nothing to learn and we are not going to deviate one iota from this path, where power emanates from the people. And you know our Party that it came out of town, it did not fall from heaven, and that our militants are chosen from among the best of the youth and among the best workers. (…)
And you know well what it means to be a member of the Party: you are the first in everything when there is a difficult job, an internationalist mission, a sacrifice, a risk; There the first turn, the first possibility is for the Party member, it is not a party of the privileged, but a party that arose from the bosom of the people, whose members have to be an example, and when they are not an example the Party is in charge of taking them out of it. their own ranks.
