His Excellency Mr. Marcelo Ebrard Casaubon:
Dear Friends:
A superpower cannot be allowed to destroy small countries in order to impose its domination.
Deliberately and cruelly, the government of President Donald Trump identified COVID-19 as an opportunity to reinforce the genocidal blockade and aggression against my country. That policy is applied today by President Joseph Biden and threatens the integrity of the Cuban people.
The discrediting campaign, financed with federal funds from the United States and the Florida government, used a toxic platform to, with lies and misrepresentations, incite disorder and violence that justified intervention. There was no social outbreak and the Cuban people resoundingly rejected and defeated the attempt with unity and the broad majority consensus of the citizens.
I am grateful for the many expressions of support and solidarity, and of condemnation of the blockade. I reaffirm that the Cuban people and their Government will defend the Socialist State of Law and Social Justice, and will persist in the construction of an independent, sovereign, socialist, democratic, prosperous and sustainable Nation.
Let us all fight to change and democratize the international order.
Thank you President Andrés Manuel López Obrador for your momentous speech. Thank you, Mexico, for your leadership and solidarity. We ratify Cuba's invariable commitment to regional integration, and to the status of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace. Faithful to the emancipatory legacy of the Liberator Simón Bolívar, let us preserve unity in diversity and join forces to consolidate the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States.
Thanks a lot.
