The important Greek magazine Greek Diplomatic Life - has just published an article entitled "Cuba, its people and its National Hero commemorate the 200th anniversary of the independence of Greece", on page 36 of its June 2021 issue. In the article -whose text is reproduced in the images below- different actions developed by Cuba are addressed to greet the brother Greek people on the 200th anniversary of their independence, which is celebrated in the year 2021. Among these actions is the setting up of a commented and bilingual photographic exhibition at the Athens Metro stations Acropolis and Syntagma, which addresses in different textual and graphic references the theme of José Martí's love for Greece and “the Greek”. This Cuban exhibition in the two most important stations of the Athenian Metro has been on display from March 13, 2020 to date, and has been visited by thousands of people, both Greeks and other nationalities. It is the temporary exhibition that has been exhibited the longest in the Athens Metro, and the first Cuban photographic exhibition there. The article also refers to the placement of a plaque to the memory of the Cuban National Hero José Martí on Mount Olympus, which perpetuates in this sacred site of Greece the love and apprehension of Marti both towards Olympus, as towards dozens and dozens of sites, localities, mountains, valleys and sites of Greece, with special emphasis on the influence they had on Martí, and particularly on the conformation of his libertarian ideals, the historical struggles of Greece for its independence and national sovereignty, as expanded in the cited article. Greek Diplomatic Life, founded in 1978, is the first and most important global illustrated magazine in the country, promoting and addressing the most relevant political, diplomatic, social, cultural and business events that take place in the Hellenic Republic, and in this edition it was dedicated to the 12th. anniversary of one of the most important museums in the world, the Acropolis Museum of Athens, just below which, in the Acropolis Metro station, a part of the Cuban photographic exhibition “José Martí, with Greece in the heart has been located ”, In the last year and a half. The magazine illustrated the publication of the article with photos of the placement of a Cuban flag on top of Mount Olympus in September 2019, as well as the inauguration in Athens of the photographic exhibition “José Martí: with Greece in the heart”, in June of the same year. An image that corresponds to the exhibition also appears, and that reflects the face of the Spartan Leonidas, in the monument erected in memory of him in Sparta.
