The WFTU International Symposium titled “The message of the life and struggle of Ernesto “Che” Guevara” took place on October 9th , on the 54th anniversary of his assassination by the CIA agents.
More than 80 trade union cadres took part in the symposium representing trade unions from every corner of the world paying tribute to the great revolutionist leader.
The opening speech of the symposium was delivered by the WFTU General Secretary, George Mavrikos who underlined his devotion to the struggle for a world without exploitation of man by man, for socialism.
During the symposium, many videos and songs were presented highlighting the important moments of his life and action.
Program of the Symposium as follows
• Opening with moments from the speech delivered by CHE at the United Nations Plenary on December 11,1964, followed by a song
• Introduction
• Main speech by the WFTU General Secretary George Mavrikos
• The program will continue with 15 speeches of 6’ each from trade union organizations members of the WFTU in the five continents.
• A couple of songs will be played
• Closing remarks by the WFTU General Secretary
• End with the song from Chile
