Kingston, Jamaica, 16 November 2021. Cuba is Alive! That was the clamour, with one voice, of the more than 40 people who gathered yesterday afternoon on the premises of our Embassy in Jamaica, to celebrate Cuba's victory in its fight against the Covid-19 pandemic and the aggressions of the imperialism; the reopening of the country; and the beginning of the Teacher and Health Workers’ Forums.
Starting at 5:00 p.m., the political-cultural event was attended by the Embassy personnel, members of the Cuban Education and Medical Brigades, and representatives of the Solidarity Movement Jamaica Cuba. Addressing the audience, both brigade coordinators expressed their gratitude for and congratulations to the compatriots who made it possible for Cuba to enter a "new normal", post-Covid period on 15 November, when children and adolescents return to schools, vaccinated and safe. After that, they reaffirmed their commitment to fulfil their mission with dedication, for the benefit of the brother Jamaican people.
During the ceremony, it was recognized the painstaking work of Dr. Blanca Rodríguez, president of the National Scientific Council of the Medical Brigade, who will complete her mission soon.
Likewise, all participants enjoyed the interpretation of the Buena Fe’s song "Valientes", by Professor Marilda Ortiz, and watched several short video clips based on life stories of Cuban doctors and scientists who worked in the confrontation with the Covid-19 and the creation of SARS-COV-2 vaccines.
